Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer Science or similar domain
Experience Requirements:
+3 years of OPEN edX experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years software development experience; 3+ years hands-on coding on Open edX specifically (not configuration-only experience)
- Proven track record of building custom components and theme customizations from scratch (portfolio or code samples required)
- SSO/LDAP/SAML, REST API development and consumption
- Fluent English required; Arabic strongly preferred (RTL localization, client engagement)
Responsibilities:
- Own technical decision-making across environments (dev, staging, production) and define upgrade/migration strategy across Open edX named releases.
- Personally write and maintain custom code.
- Aware of development technologies needed to Develop custom components such as (grading engines, certification workflows, cohorting logic, adaptive learning paths) from scratch to meet client-specific pedagogical or compliance requirements.
- Develop Comprehensive Theming customizations (front-end, RTL/Arabic localization, government branding) directly in code.
- Build and consume REST API integrations for both client and service-side code as needed.
- Debug, patch, and extend Open edX platform code at the source level when standard configuration is insufficient.
- Develop custom reporting logic and dashboards beyond out-of-box Insights.
- Provide technical support and root-cause resolution for code-level issues in production.
- Maintain technical documentation for custom code to support internal continuity.
